MST mobilizes more than five thousand women in the interior and in the capital of Bahia
The day of struggle will denounce foreign capital in Brazilian agriculture through transnational corporations, drawing the attention of society to the destructive model of agribusiness
Against the Reform of Social Security, the Labor Reform and the model of development of the capital in the countryside, the MST starts on Monday (March 6) the National Day of Struggles of the Landless Women in denouncing the loss of rights and the setbacks promoted by the coup and illegitimate government of Michel Temer (PMDB).
With the motto "We are all awake! Against Capital and Agribusiness. No one with less rights!," in Bahia alone, the Movement intends to mobilize more than 5,000 peasant workers in ten regions of the state and in the state capital of Bahia.
The occupation of latifúndio and the denunciation to the model of production of the agribusiness and the defense of the People’s Agrarian Reform direct the struggles of this period. However, the central focus is on the defense of Public Social Welfare, understood by the Movement as a foundation of the world of work and aimed at guaranteeing citizenship for the men and women of the countryside and the city.
While Via Campesina - one of the connected international fronts of the MST -, the cry of order is "The Social Security is ours! Nobody takes her away from the countryside!," which joins the international women's struggle calendar on March 8.
In this sense, the day of struggle will denounce foreign capital in Brazilian agriculture through transnational corporations, calling the attention of society to the "destructive" model of agribusiness for the environment and the life of the Brazilian population.
