Demonstrations in Defense of Democracy Mobilize 700,000 People Across Brazil
More than 700,000 people attended the National Day in Defense of Democracy on Thursday (March 31) in several Brazilian cities. The acts were organized by Brazil Popular Front and the People Without Fear, in order to defend democracy against the coup and to fight for a different economic policy.
Movement that were organized in the camp Don Tomás Baudino in the Quedas do Iguaçu municipality, central region of the state of Paraná, were victims of an ambush by the military police and private security forces of the logging company Araupel.
There are about 500 activists from the MST, FUP (Single Federation of Petroleum Workers, CUT (Unified Workers’ Central), UNE (National Union of Students), UBES (Union of Brazilian Secondary Students) and Levante Popular da Juventude (Popular Youth Uprising) in defense of democracy against the fiscal adjustment and for Fora Cunha (Get Out Cunha).
