Evaluations of the National March for Land Reform
Dear friends,
All of you were able to follow the Landless March to Brasilia via the internet and the press. Many evaluations have been made, including some on our web site. More than what we ourselves may say about the march, it is important to hear what the people are saying about us and our actions. For this reason, we are reproducing below a part of an article written by Bishop Demétrio Valentini of Jales-SP, who went with us for a good part of the march, including the meeting with President Lula.
“What is still surprising in the Landless is their persistence in carrying out a utopia that they would give everything to make viable, but which faces historical resistence that needs to be overcome with political tenacity, with popular organization and with governmental firmness.
